Fahrenheit 451 – Ray Bradbury

Fahrenheit 451Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Honestly, I have to admit I was disappointed by this book.

I thought the idea of a world against the written word was a really interesting idea but the story of Montag’s realisation and development required a longer story. Instead the author seems to have been running out of ink and paper and so chooses to finish the tale as quickly as possible.

If Bradbury had read 1984 for example and taken notice of how Orwell built the story to a conclusion rather than jumping straight to the last chapter then this could have been the great novel that so many reviewers seem to believe it is.

A great premise for a novel but badly done.
