Saturn RunSaturn Run by John Sandford
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I received a free kindle edition of the book via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This review will contain some spoilers.

This is a fairly solid sci-fi book with echoes of the space race between the USA and Russia. In this book however the role of the Russians has been taken over by the Chinese and the race is not simply for bragging rights. An alien ship has been captured on camera by chance in the Saturnian system and both nations race to try and meet the alien visitors and perhaps gain a technological advancement ahead of their rivals.

The plot really grabbed my attention but the execution is sadly not as great as I hoped. Although I still enjoyed the book I was disappointed with the sort of cop out of having the aliens leave and only ‘meeting’ them through the A.I. trading post. I did however think that the barter system was a good assessment of how interstellar trades would have to work.
I also hugely enjoyed the Hitchhikers Guide reference!
